Tattoo airbrush kits come in a variety of different packages. The most basic kits include an airbrush, air compressor and some ink. From there, more varied kits exist which can include additional stencils, artwork, and more. These kits are useful for beginning tattoo artists because they provide practice with stenciling and design; they are also nice to have on-hand at tattoo shops because many customers will want to test out a tattoo before committing to it permanently.
A tattoo airbrush is a small tool capable of creating a temporary tattoo. Using an airbrush and an air compressor, the tattoo artist readies the skin with a stencil, and then sprays ink on top of it. The process comes without the pain or permanence of a regular tattoo.
The benefits of this kind of tattoo are numerous. First of all, it is not a rare occurrence for someone to regret a tattoo they got when they were younger or in a different mindset. And while laser tattoo removal is possible, it is also expensive; in many of these cases, the tattoo could perhaps have been averted if it was tested with an airbrushed tattoo beforehand.
The best airbrushing inks can last up to two weeks or even longer in some cases. This should give you adequate time to come to a conclusion whether you want to keep the tattoo permanently. Or you can always get an airbrushed tattoo with the idea of impermanence in mind, and get another one in a few weeks.
Tattoo airbrush kits vary in their content, but some things that will consistently be included in addition to the main components listed above are: extra tubes, stencils, and different kinds of ink. Some kits also come with sample artwork to hang on the walls and other accessories to keep the kit running optimally.
The quality of the airbrush and compressor also vary from kit to kit (price is usually a good indicator of this), so it is important to take the time and make sure you have the one you want. If you have any questions about which airbrush kit is best, it is never a bad idea to read review online or to consult your local tattoo shop and ask someone there. Most tattoo shops are stocked with people happy to discuss any kind of tattoo equipment.
Starter kits will typically include just black ink. However, more advanced kits come with a variety of different colors of ink, which can be good practice for the artist and useful for someone who wants to see what a colorful tattoo design looks like on his or her body beforehand. The amount of ink that initially comes with the kit also varies, but in any event, ink will eventually need to be replenished as you use the airbrush.
Like most things involving tattoos, the quality of ink also varies. Whereas in the past temporary tattoos provided by airbrushing could only last for about a week, today the best ink is capable of lasting for up to two weeks or longer. So make sure you get the ink that best fits your needs.
Finally, many of these kits will come with a training DVD of some kind. This can be very useful for beginners, or even for experienced tattoo artists who may not have a lot of experience operating the airbrush and compressor.
