Henna tattoo ink is one of the first inks used to adorn the body. It is widely used in India for temporary tattoos, dying hair, and for medicinal purposes such as fever reduction and for infections. It is most commonly used to create temporary tattoo designs on the back of hands, arms and feet although it can be applied anywhere including the face.
Henna tattoo ink can have oils and other herbs added to it to darken or lighten the rich brown color that henna naturally has. To apply henna it first has to be put into a tube for application. It can also be applied with a toothpick but this is less consistent. Clipping the corner off of a baggie is one of the preferred methods for applying henna to skin.
Henna tattoo ink is made from the ground up leaves of the henna plant which are then mixed to create a paste. Water is one of the materials mixed with the leaves to create a paste, but fresh lemon juice is the idea fluid to mix with. Mustard and eucalyptus as well as fresh indigo leaves can be used to slightly alter the color of the henna, usually darkening it.
